Averett University’s beloved Professor Barbara Kushubar ’75 passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. She touched countless lives as an Averett student and then for 36 years as a professor, coach, mentor and colleague She was admired for her dedication to Averett students, and loved her for her relentless passion to motivate and guide them into successful lives.

“Coach K” to many, was an integral part of Averett in every aspect. Her dedication to our students and to the University itself was unwavering, and her tireless commitment to motivating and guiding students left an indelible mark on our community.

To honor her memory, Averett would like to dedicate a classroom on North Campus as the “Barbara Kushubar Memorial Classroom.”
