Meet Robin Guthrie, a student pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree who is expected to graduate in 2019.

What is your motivation for obtaining your degree here at Averett University?

“I have always wanted to have my degree but did not think I could reach that goal and work at the same time. At 55 I decided I wanted to do this, at least try. Just as with my BCEN, I want to do this for me. I know one day it will come a time in the hospital setting where I will have to have a degree in nursing to work.

I have just started my 33rd year in nursing and I know one day I probably won’t be able to continue the long hours and fast pace of Emergency Nursing and by having my BSN, this will provide more avenues to make a move in my career when that time comes.”
