GPS Student Spotlight

Meet Michael Baker, a student pursuing his Bachelor of Business Administration degree who is expected to graduate in 2020.

QUESTION: Why did you choose Averett’s Graduate & Professional Studies Program?

ANSWER: “I chose Averett’s GPS Program because my wife completed her degree with the university back in 2011, and I was able to see first-hand the flexibility with which an individual who works full-time could still pursue his or her educational goals.”

Memorial Day Holiday

Managers will be receiving a separate email as a reminder to check with their respective staff members to make sure everyone has a form on file. Faculty will receive an email reminder in the fall. Call or email Kathie Tune with questions at (434) 791-7106 or [email protected].

Thank you in advance for your compliance efforts.

Common Room Usage During Passport and IMPACT Camps

During the months of June and July, our visiting camps (Passport in June and IMPACT in July) will use Carrington Conference Room as a “command center.”  Additionally, the respective camps have rented and will make frequent use of a large number of classrooms in Frith Hall and Bishop Hall, Frith Fine Arts Center, Carrington Gym, Student Center Lawn and the MPR. If you have meeting requirements please contact Lynnette Lawson at [email protected] or (434) 791-5625 and she will help to find a proper solution.

Should you see new faces around our grounds please welcome them and assist them with general information, directions, etc. if you are willing to do so. If their needs exceed what you are able to provide, simply send them to Lawson at Alumni Hall or ask them to contact her via her office number or cell at (434) 250-3769. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Your kindness and welcoming spirit makes a huge difference to our visitors.

Thank You!

“The Facilities Department would like to extend a very gracious “Thank You” to everyone that participated in the Service Day on Thursday, May 17. We had more than 20 staff and faculty members show up to help paint in Fugate. The goal was to paint the walls where the old cork boards were located. The group painted more than 70 rooms which was a tremendous help in our effort to upgrade Fugate. I hope we can perform more Service Days this summer and have the success like we did last week.”

Thank you,
Elliot Baynes, director of Facilities

Reminder from Facilities about Work Order Requests

Please continue to utilize the work order request system for any maintenance needs during the summer break. We monitor that on a daily basis and will address issues as quickly as possible. Emails and phone calls are not the preferred method unless it is an urgent issue.
